Doctor Francis McNaughton of the Montreal Neurological Institute told a conference on the Toronto Academy of Medicine that despite considerable research, the precise mechanism of laughter is still a mystery.

In other words, a man does not know what makes him laugh; the precise mechanism of laughter is still unknown. Man should know, however, that he is wonderfully and intricately made. David said, I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” (Psalm 139:14)

When we consider the laughter of a human being, we readily realize that man was created on a higher plane that the animals of the field. The easy, out flowing ability of man to laugh proves that he is in a class by himself. He was created lower than the angels of heaven but higher than the animals of the field. The flesh-link, the blood link and the laughter-link are all missing between man and beast.

A moose can grunt, a donkey bray, a horse neigh, a rooster crow, and a hen cackle, but man is the only living creature giving vent to hearty laughter. It is an expression of the soul.

When we contemplate these facts, we know that man must have been created in the image of God because God and man both can laugh! God has put this capacity – to laugh and know happiness – within the soul of every person.

However, God does not need to laugh to provide mirth or merriment for Himself. He is eternal joy, eternal happiness, and eternal laughter. These undoubtedly are some of the divine attributes of God.

There is no record in the Bible that God has ever laughed or will ever laugh as a result of merriment of glee or to provide it for Himself. But there is much record that He will laugh in the day of judgment.

How terrible will be God’s laughter then!! The heavens will roll back as a scroll. The elements will melt. The sinner will stand without a covering, and in that day God will laugh!!!

Psa 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Psa 37:12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

Psa 37:13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.

Psa 59:8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

Pro 1:25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

Pro 1:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

Dr. McNaughton has said, “The uncontrollable laughter of a madman is the ultimate destruction of emotional control.”

In the day of judgment God will give vent to the most destructive, soul-shaking laughter ever heard. God will not break down; man will. The foam-flecked lips of a madman, spouting forth an uncontrollable laughter are as nothing in comparison to the future judgment-laughter that is coming when God laughs.

Why will God laugh? Because men laugh at Him now. They turn aside in mocking laughter, rejecting the Christ who has atoned for their sins. They will not believe. On day because of this God will loose His terrible judgment-laughter – a laughter of eternal death, an appalling thing!!

You can escape the judgment-laughter of God. You can know the joyful laughter of a soul set free, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. God desires to flood your being with the joy of salvation. You can experience this transformation now and have a laughter-filled, heaven-blessed experience for all eternity. “…in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. “

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,

Visiting Day

He was looking forward to this moment all day long, after 6 days of labor and it finally arrived--Visiting Day!! The man with the keys arrived to swing open the large, heavy doors.

The cold gray hall springs to life in the warm glow of light. He could hardly control his emotions. The families began to arrive. He peers from the corner of the room, longing for the first glimpse of his loved one.

He lives for the weekends. He lives for these visits. As the cars arrive, he watches intently. Then, finally, she arrives--his bride, for whom he would do anything.

They embrace, eat a light lunch and reminisce how things used to be. At one point, they break into singing, with interruptions of laughter and applause. But all too soon it is over. A tear comes to his eyes as his bride departs. Then the man with the keys closes the heavy doors. He
hears the key turn in the lock marking the end of a special day. There he stands, alone again. He knows that most of his visitors will not contact him again until next week.

As the last car pulls away from the parking lot, Jesus retreats into loneliness as He waits until next Sunday-- Visiting Day.

Is the time that we spend with Jesus an everyday thing, or do we just visit Him on Sunday????

Boss Hogg

Friday Funnies - Good, Bad, Ugly

On her first visit to a Church a little girl was awed by the occasion. "Moma" she whispered, "Does the Pastor live here or does he come down from heaven every Sunday?"

We have a group of preacher in our town who bowl. They call
themselves "Holy Rollers".

The Doctor went to see him - the pastor didn't go.
The doctor was sent for - the pastor didn't know.
The doctor, for his going - got a big fat check.
The pastor for not knowing - got it in the neck.

The preacher had asked the congregation if they had ever seen a perfect woman. One woman said she'd never seen one, but had heard of one. "Who was she?" "My husband first wife. I hear about her all the time!"

Sharpton apologizing to LDS officials?

Although I do not respect Sharpton, he has a point by not trusting Mitt Romney.

Mitt Romney
is a temple-card holding Mormon. He took oaths in a Mormon temple to put the LDS church above all else. That could mean a conflict of interests to do what his church orders him to do. And count on it, they will use every means to promote themselves like a pageant of power.

Rauni Higley pointed out that Mormon oaths some years ago were against the United States, saying, You and each of you do covenant and promise that you will pray and never cease to pray to Almighty God to avenge the blood of the prophets [Joseph Smith and Hyrum Smith] upon this nation, that you will teach the same to your children and to your children’s children unto the third and fourth generation.”

Romney’s ancestry participated in this, and his grandparents were polygamist. His father was born in Mexico, because his parents had to leave Utah in order to practice polygamy at that time.

Mormon basic beliefs insists upon dark skinned people being rebellious as pre-existent spirits. The LDS teaching about black skin and the curse of Cain is never repudiated by Mormons because that's what they believe.

Is dark skin is inferior? Brigham Young is highly esteemed in Utah, even to have the favored University bear his name. He said, "You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly without the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind . . . the Lord put a mark on him, which is the flat nose and black skin." (Gen. Conf., Oct. 9, 1859, Journal of Discourses, 7:290-291) It mystifies me how BYU was named after a white supremacist.

Brigham Young said, "Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of god, is death on the spot. This will always be so." (Journal of Discourses, 10:110). No! The LDS "prophet" was viciously preaching murder!

Brigham Young said, "On that very day, and from the hour we should do so, the priesthood is taken from this church and kingdom, and God leaves us to our fate. The moment we consent to mingle with the seed of Cain, the Church must go to destruction,--we should receive the curse . . ." (B.Y. Address, Feb. 5, 1852, Ms d 1234, Box 488, Folder 3, L.D.S. Archives). The LDS church self-destructed as its prophet emphatically warned, even losing the alleged priesthood! Was Brigham right that apostates turn "gray-haired, wrinkled, and black, just like the Devil"? (Journal of Discourses 5:332) Who has? Most LDS believe anything their leaders tell them.

What does the media or the press mean by "Reverand" Jackson or "Reverand" Sharpton? We can give a man the title of Pastor or Evangelist, which is plenty good enough. I don't see that any of the above names fit them anyway. They're political revolutionaries, not godly men. "Reverand" was used once in the Bible and it's not about any men. It disgusts God when men try to elevate themselves by assuming His holy titles. Let a man stick to the human titles because this one belongs solely to GOD, not Sharpton or any one else. Why is that so hard to understand?

Psalm 111:9 says, "He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant forever: holy and reverend is his name."

Monday is Victoria Day here in Canada

How Queen Victoria Received the Assurance of Salvation

Queen Victoria of England (1819-1901) was noted as a moral and religious person. Her religion and morality, however, was unable to save her soul. The following is an account of how Queen Victoria gained real assurance that she would go to Heaven.

"One day, after an especially moving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, she asked her chaplain if one could be absolutely sure of Heaven. He told her he knew of no way to know. How tragic not to know!

"News of this conversation reached the ears of a humble Gospel minister named John Townsend, who then wrote a letter to the queen. He told her that the Bible is clear that we can know for certain, for God does not want us to go through life with doubts where we will spend eternity. As proof, Townsend cited two Scripture verses. The first verse was John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

The second verse Townsend cited was, "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9).

The explanation of God’s simple plan of salvation impacted the queen. In her reply, Queen Victoria told Townsend that she now, "believed in the finished work of Christ for me," and looked forward to meeting Townsend in Heaven." (adapted from "Blessed Assurance" by Good News Publishers.)

Do you know for certain that you will go to Heaven? You can, if you will repent and trust in the shed blood of Jesus just as Queen Victoria did. God says we can know for sure we are going to Heaven. "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God: that ye may know that ye have eternal life" (I John 5:13). Will you trust Christ to save you right now?

"Meet Me in Heaven"

In a biography of Queen Victoria, and we learned that the queen would sometimes go to the slums of London. She went into one home to have tea with an older lady, and when the queen rose to leave, she asked, "Is there anything I can do for you?" And the woman said, "Yes, ma'am, Your Majesty, you can meet me in heaven." The queen turned to her and said softly, "Yes. I'll be there, but only because of the blood that was shed on the cross for you and for me." Queen Victoria, in her day the most powerful woman in the world, had to depend on the blood of Christ for her salvation. And so do we. The Bible says that God is the Author of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). God provided salvation through the cross. He made peace by the shedding of His blood. The war that exists between you and God can be over quickly, and the peace treaty is signed in the blood of His Son Jesus Christ.

Are you at peace with God? Or do the sins of your heart separate you from God?

The above two stories concerning Queen Victoria and her salvation testimony. Monday here in Canada is Victoria Day.

The Pencil - Object Lesson

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box. "There are 5 things you need to know," he told the pencil, "Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be."

"One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone's hand."

"Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become a better pencil."

"Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make."

"Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside."

"And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write."

The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.

Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.

Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems, but you'll need it to become a stronger person.

Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.

Four: The most important part of you will always be what's on the inside.

And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.

By understanding and remembering, let us proceed with
our life on this earth having a meaningful purpose in our heart.

Friday Funnies - "Canada, Oh Canada!"

On the sixth day God turned to the angel Gabriel and said
"Today I am going to create a land called Canada. It will
be a land of outstanding natural beauty, it shall have tall
majestic mountains full of mountain goats and eagles,
beautifully sparkling lakes bountiful with carp and trout,
forests full of elk and moose, high cliffs over looking
sandy beaches with an abundance of sea life, rivers stocked
with salmon.."

God continued, "I shall make the land rich in oil so to
make the inhabitants prosper, I shall call these
inhabitants Canadians, they shall be known as the most
friendly people on the Earth."

"But Lord," asked Gabriel, "don't you think you are being
too generous to these Canadians?"

"Not really," replied the Almighty, "just wait and see the
neighbours I am going to give them!"

The Will Of God

The will of God will never take you,
Where the grace of God cannot keep you.
Where the arms of God cannot support you,
Where the riches of God cannot supply your needs,
Where the power of God cannot endow you.

The will of God will never take you,
Where the spirit of God cannot work through you,
Where the wisdom of God cannot teach you,
Where the army of God cannot protect you,
Where the hands of God cannot mold you.

The will of God will never take you,
Where the love of God cannot enfold you,
Where the mercies of God cannot sustain you,
Where the peace of God cannot calm your fears,
Where the authority of God cannot overrule for you.

The will of God will never take you,
Where the comfort of God cannot dry your tears,
Where the Word of God cannot feed you,
Where the miracles of God cannot be done for you,
Where the omnipresence of God cannot find you.

The Rumor Mill

A follow up of our Gossip posting...

Bro. Hallmark,

Still looking for the audio file...but here it is in its entirety:

Words and music: Jon Mohr (c) 1982 Jonathan Mark Music (ASCAP)
Lead: Paul Kennamer, Jr.

Let me tell you a story about a local enterprise
There's one in every town, no matter what its size
It doesn't turn a profit, or bring in any revenue
It's good for one thing and that's the damage it'll do

It's called...

The rumor mill
Oh yeah, the rumor mill
If it can be twisted, you can be sure that it will
'Cause there ain't nothing sacred, none at all
At the rumor mill, the rumor mill

The people that work there are all volunteers
The only qualification is a mouth and two big ears
If the story's not clear enough, well that's ok
They'll just doctor it up and then send it on its way
It doesn't matter who's involved or who it is gonna hurt
As long as folks are listenin' they'll keep shovlin' dirt at

Repeat Chorus

The rumor mill, manufacturing lies
The rumor mill, where the truth is disguised
The rumor mill, where reputations are crushed
The rumor mill, and where nothing is hushed
If it can be twisted, you can be sure that it will
'Cause there ain't nothing sacred, none at all
At the rumor mill, oh yeah, the rumor mill

Now you listen my children to this warning I make
You've got a lot to lose, there's a lot here at stake
The Bible plainly states "You're gonna reap what you sow"
And "You'll be shown mercy by the mercy you show"
So shut your mouth and ask your friends to kindly do the same (So shut
your mouth and ask your friends to kindly do the same)
Or you'll wind up a victim with no one else to blame

Repeat Chorus

Oh yeah, the rumor mill (x3)
At the rumor mill

Thanks Bro. Bryan

The Way Death Comes . . .

People have died in peculiar- almost unbelievable- ways.

Harold Lee Duncan was mowing his lawn. His wife and two children were watching. Suddenly, Duncan grabbed his left side, walked a few steps, staggered, collapsed, and then died. A half inch piece of wire, no bigger than the lead of a pencil, had been flicked into his heart by the blades of the power mower he was using. His death was sudden.

A twenty four year old newspaper reporter, Jost Lehmann, put a bottle on top of his head and asked another man to shoot it off. J. Poetschke took aim with a .38 calibre revolver, pulled the trigger and missed. The bullet penetrated the head of Jost Lehmann. He died on the spot and the "William Tell" episode ended in tragedy.

A young girl named Theresa Conn, was playing hide and seek with her dog. She hid a ball on the table and waited for her dog to find it. The large collie dog jumped up on the table to get the ball. In doing so, the steel table was upset and crashed on Theresa's head. She was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. The dog had unwittingly killed her.

Carlos Umbros was fishing in Pampanga, in the Philippines. Police reported that he opened his mouth to yawn. A fish jumped in and became stuck in his throat. He choked to death before it could be pulled out.

Mario Clana entered a funeral parlour and saw a man rise with a satisfied smile from a coffin. He died of shock. Pedro Fernandez, the owner of the parlour had been measuring the coffin for a client about his own size. The shock of what he thought he saw was too much for Mario Cianca.

People have died in different and amazing ways. But the most important things to consider is, "Were they ready?" How they died is not so important, but they should have been ready. Death- with one's boots on or off- is final. To be ready is all important.

Goliath died, being hit by stone; he was not ready for death. He had defied the God of Israel. "The stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth" (1 Sam. 17:49).

Stones also caused the death of Stephen, but he was ready. He had glorified the name of Jesus by his outstanding witness. When the stones struck his body, his face shone as the face if an angel. "They stoned Stephen, calling upon God and saying, calling upon God and saying, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit' " (Acts 7:59).

King Saul of the Old Testament was not ready either. He had disobeyed the Word of God. Samuel told him, "To obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams... Because you have rejected the Word of the Lord, he has also rejected you" (1 Sam. 15:22, 23). "Saul took a sword, and fell upon it" (1 Sam. 31:4).

Saul of Tarsus died by a sword too, but he was ready when he bent his head at word of the executioner. His testimony was, "I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" (2 Tim. 4:6,7).

When death comes your way, friend, what matters how you die? Wire, bullet, dog, fish, shock, stone or sword will make no difference. The big question is: Where will you be in eternity? God's solemn word is: "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Heb. 9:27).

He further says, "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isa. 1:18).

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:31).

If you have hard work to do,

Do it now.

Today the skies are clear and blue,

Tomorrow clouds may come in view,

Yesterday is not for you;

Do it now.

If you have a song to sing,

Sing it now.

Let the notes of gladness ring

Clear as song of bird in spring,

Let every day some music bring;

Sing it now.

If you have kind words to say,

Say them now.

Tomorrow may not come your way.

Do a kindness while you may;

Loved ones will not always stay;

Say them now.

If you have a smile to show,

Show it now.

Make hearts happy, roses grow,

Let the friends around you know

The love you have before they go;

Show it now.

Gossip and Gloom

I have recently received an unsolicited email of an evil report against another. When I tried to verify the stories the coward would not answer my simple questions.

Gossip and Gloom
Are bothers-in-woe,
Whatever they say
Know it’s not so.

Gossip and Gloom
Are in a bad way,
Pray do not believe
A word that they say.

Gossip and Gloom
On mischief are bent,
Their foolish opinions
Are not worth a cent.

Gossip and Gloom
Do things on the sly,
They secretly whisper
And most often lie.

Gossip and Gloom
Are not good for you,
With such busybodies
Have nothing to do.

The Crowd Was Wrong

Adam Thompson of Cincinnati, Ohio, in the Eighteenth Century, was the first American to fill a bathtub. People became alarmed; Doctors predicted that rheumatism and inflammation of the lungs would follow such practice. Some cities placed a ban on bathtubs. The authorities even refused to grant permission for citizens to do the “new-fangled exercise.” But today a home is not complete without a tub or shower. The crowd was wrong.

Fulton believed in his efforts. He believed a steamboat could be a workable thing. But “Fulton’s folly” was the name the crowed gave to that first steamboat, and yet, giant steamships cross the seven seas. Again the crowd was wrong.

Goodyear and his wife worked tirelessly for eleven years on vulcanizing rubber. People laughed at Goodyear. They said he was foolish to work so untiringly and so long at a task that could only end in failure, but the name “Goodyear” is known around the world today. Again the crowd was wrong.

“Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.” (Matthew 27:22-29)

Pilate’s wife had said, “Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him” (Matthew 27:19) (God always has a witness, even in the darkest hour.) Pilate should have heeded the advice of his wife. But he did not have the courage enough to stand up for his own convictions. Mrs. Pilate was right. The crowd was wrong.

Jesus said, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13, 14). He said the crowd is wrong.

Do not go the way of the crowd. Do not listen to the crowd. Go the way of the Cross. It is the NARROW WAY, but it leads to life eternal!

Friday Funnies - Backward Christian Soldier

Backward Christian soldiers, fleeing from the fight,
With the cross of Jesus clearly out of sight:
Christ our rightful Master stands against the foe,
But forward into battle we are chicken to go.

Like a mighty tortoise moves the church of God;
Brothers we are treading where we've often trod,
We are much divided, many bodies we,
Having different doctrines, not much charity.

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the Church of Jesus hidden does remain;
Gates of hell should never "gainst that Church prevail,
We have Christ's own promise, but think that it will fail.

Sit here, then, ye people, join our useless throng;
Blend with ours your voices in a feeble song.
Blessings, ease, and comfort, ask from Christ the King.
With our modern thinking, we won't do a thing.

It Is Time To Repent!!!

Have you ever held a newborn baby? My heart melts as I smell their breath, feel the little squirms, and listen to the sounds! But America, rewind our history to the recent past and a president (and about half the country that endorsed him) said it is okay to tear them apart if it is ten seconds before birth! Friends, this is the kind of sin that makes Heaven and earth flee away from the wrath of God! We are no better that our baby-butcher cousins, Pharoah in the OT and Herod in the New! When politicians cannot be trusted in word or conduct here; how can we think to trust them abroad? Hillery’s key role as First Lady was to promote abortions, stopping growth in third world countries! It was not enough just here. Abortion at any stage is murder, only forgivable through another mutilated body and blood of another Child, the Son of God!

Picture a conduit draining American sin to the lowest point in the country, Death Valley:

From San Francisco (and others) flows the lousy perversion of sodomy.

From Las Vegas (and others) flows the filthy corruption of gambling.

From Washington DC flows a self-seeking, bipartisan hatred for anything godly.

From New Orleans flows euphoria with the depravity of the Mardi Gras.

From “Al Gore’s internet” flows the wickedness of every known kind of perversion to man.

Have you become irritated or inoculated to the wickedness in this place? More examples: Veto the Ten Commandments, an epidemic of child abuse, demonic music, psychic delusion, religious fraud, video violence, scandalous lawyers, twisted judges, the grip of the politically correct, “technicalities” in prosecution, irresponsible education, lobbying scams, Civil Liberties Union, racial profile spin, a fascination for the dark side . . . –- VERDICT: GUILTY! Vexes my soul!!!

Death Valley is a truly beautiful place but for illustration, American sin is flowing to the bottom side of hell! And then what? Hollywood pumps it back into the cable networks and beams it up to satellites in the skies and features it in movie theaters, corrupting people across the face of the earth! This Death Valley Programming from the cesspool, sewers, and septic of American sin is a stench before Almighty God!

Why does God bless America, as He definitely has! People claim, “God will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah unless . . .” What a foolish remark! You better know God has to apologize to no-one, He will judge as He sees fit, and you’d better not misrepresent Him or hold Him hostage! God destroyed Sodom; yet there are major differences. I discover the sweetest, God-honoring Christian people from coast to coast who love God and actively turn from sin. Friend, that is in America! Sodom did not have that. And sometimes we fail, but our policy has been pro-Israel to this point. God has been blessing America. It's all of His grace! “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Gen. 12:3)

I trust you hate the devil and that our sin vexes your soul, but never fail to love our American people! Someone has said that any old dead fish can float downstream with the current, but it takes a good live one to swim upstream. Swim for righteousness! Pray for this country! And the best way to love them is to show them a way out of our sin and its consequences; tell them of Jesus Christ!
