Wake Up North America

Swiss Vote Bans Muslim Minarets

Over 57 percent of Swiss voters on Sunday approved a blanket ban on the construction of Muslim minarets, according to official results posted by Swiss news agency ATS.

A final tally of 26 cantons indicates that 57.5 percent of the population have voted in favour of the ban on minarets -- the turrets or towers attached on mosques from where Muslims are called to prayer.

Only four cantons rejected the proposal brought by Switzerland's biggest party -- the Swiss People's Party (SVP), which claims that minarets symbolise a "political-religious claim to power."

The SVP had forced a referendum under Swiss regulations on the issue after collecting 100,000 signatures within 18 months from eligible voters.

The Swiss government was firmly against the call, arguing that accepting a ban would bring about "incomprehension overseas and harm Switzerland's image."

Switzerland has an uneasy relationship with its Muslim population of some 400,000 in a country of 7.5 million people. Islam is the second largest religion here after Christianity.

HAVE YOU TRIED TO WIN THEM???

Your family and friends will die and go to the lake of fire forever if they are not saved before they die or before the Lord Jesus comes. You can meet a need that no other person can perform if you will do it.

Winning souls to Christ is of more value than gaining the whole world.

There are many ways to reach your family and friends.

First, go to them with God’s plan for being saved by believing His Word.

Second, give them the plan of Salvation in a gospel tract form.

Third, take them with your to Church where the Word of God is preached and souls are saved.

Fourth, write out the plan of Salvation in a letter. They will read it.

Fifth, tell them how and when you were saved.

Sixth, spend much time in prayer for each one. Give them such scriptures as --

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10: 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

These verse are very effective if you will write them out and give them to your family and friends.

Remember, you will lead none to Christ if you do not try.

Get started today.

DON’T WAIT ‘til the Hearse Hauls You To Church

- if you do.

1. You will go regardless of the weather.

2. You will go regardless of how your family feels.

3. You will go regardless of the condition of your body.

4. You will have beautiful flowers but you won’t enjoy them.

5. Regardless of how good the singing, you won’t enjoy it.

6. Regardless of what the minister may say it will do you no good.

7. You will go to the altar but you will not pray.

8. You may have a great need but no one will be able to help you.

9. You will never be able to attend church again.

10. There will be relatives and friends there but you will not worship with them.

11. You will go regardless of how many hypocrites are there.

12. You will go regardless of how much you are needed at home or on your job.

The Pastor would rather help you now than try to console your lived ones if you die without God. So make it your choice to go to church while you have a choice.

AFTER THEIR KINDS

How wonderful, your dog has just had puppies! But do you now have to sort through the litter and make sure there are no baby giraffes or kangaroos?

In God’s account of creation in Genesis 1 we repeatedly read that both plants and animals were created to reproduce “after their kind.” Genesis 1, in speaking about the creation of plants, repeats three times in just two verses that they are to reproduce “after their kind.” We see the same phrase repeated later in the chapter when animals are created.

Why does God stress this principle? Even before creation God knew that man would eventually sin and then seek to hide his responsibility by trying to explain things without a Creator. God knew that this idea of evolution would capture the faith of millions over the history of the world.

And so He stresses what our experience shows so that He might be harder for men to hide from All things do reproduce after their kinds. And despite evolutionists’ strong faith in evolution they cannot offer on e established scientific fact to explain how one kind of creature might eventually make a completely different kind!

Old Paris Law Still Stands: No Pants for Women

1800s rule prohibits ladies from 'dressing like men'

Newser) – Turns out fashion-forward Paris has some rather retro regulations. Namely, a ban on women wearing pants. It's the type of law associated with the Sudan, not the Champs-Elysées, but more than 200 years after it was enacted by the city's police chief, the law stands. But today's cops may have a tough time enforcing it: Trousers are mandatory for policewomen.

The rule has survived repeated attempts at repeal. In 1892, the Daily Telegraph notes, it was "relaxed" such that trousers were permitted "as long as the woman is holding the reins of a horse." In 1909, female cyclists were declared exempt. In the 1960s and again in 2003, people tried, but failed, to overturn the ban. So, law-abiding ladies, when in Paris, stick to skirts.

In 1893, Henry Ziegland ended a relationship with his girlfriend.

Tragically, his girlfriend took the news very badly, became distraught and took her own life.

Her distressed brother blamed his sister's death upon Henry, he went round to Henry's house, saw him out in the garden and tried to shoot him.

Luckily, the bullet only grazed Henry's face and embedded itself in a nearby tree.

In 1913, twenty years after this incident, Henry decided to use dynamite to uproot a tree in his garden. The explosion propelled the embedded bullet from the tree straight into Henry Ziegland's head - killing him immediately.

AP poll: Family dinner survives, with distractions

WASHINGTON DC - Pass the gravy -- plus the phone and the remote control. It's dinnertime in America.

Between the blare of the TV, the ring of the phone and Junior texting his buddies under the table or from the couch, the modern dinner comes with a heaping helping of distracting bells and whistles, an Associated Press-iVillage Food poll found. Yet the sit-down, home-cooked family meal is an enduring tradition. And not just on Thanksgiving or other special occasions. Most nights, most families manage to eat together, the survey found.

Democrats and Republicans do. Devout churchgoers and never-goers do. Childless families and those with kids are about equally apt to have a regular family meal. So are families from the suburbs and the country.

Altogether, more than 60 percent of those who live with families said they sat down with family for dinner at least five nights in the past week. Home-cooked meals were the norm, not just takeout and the like.

Hand-me-down recipes determine the menu more than any other source. Although more than half in the poll have cooked something from an online recipe and TV shows, such digital delights lag recipes clipped from newspapers and magazines, and none of that holds a candle to recipes passed on from family elders.

So far so good, painter Norman Rockwell, that celebrant of the idealized old-fashioned life, surely would think. But family bonding has some competition when people are chowing down.

Television is a constant dinner companion for a quarter of families, the poll suggests. More than half have it turned on more often than rarely.

Half are pestered by phone calls -- including, it must be said, from the occasional pollster like the ones who did this survey.

Texting or e-mailing on a cell phone is always going on over dinner for five percent of families. It's more than a rare intrusion for 15 percent. Nearly 40 percent have the radio or stereo going, at least occasionally.

Surveys over recent decades have generally found the American dinnertime to be hanging in as family time despite the growth of households with both parents working. It might be harder to pull off these days but, in the view of Don Wells, 59, of Phenix City, Alabama, it's not that hard.

"Cooking is not rocket science," said Wells, a government contractor who is retired from the armed forces. He and his wife, Mary, have dinner together every night, along with kids, grandkids or "anyone else who happens to be in the house at meal time."

Cell phones don't interrupt. "Not in this house," he said. But the TV is sometimes on.

In West Chicago, Illinois, Judit Mohai, 34, is a musician who usually cooks for her husband and kids, ages 2 and 5, four days a week. She's working the remaining three nights. The family eats in the kitchen, where there is no TV, and no one has a cell phone.

"It's very important because we're sitting together," she said. "I did it with my family. My husband did it with his family. It's just kind of normal."

"It just comes naturally and it works," she went on. "It's not like we have teenagers in the house, so as long as we can do it, we do it."

For those who can't pull a family dinner together regularly, it's most often because someone is working too late. Almost one in 10 family members surveyed had no dinners with family in the past week.

Major reasons for offering prepared food instead of a meal from scratch were that the cook was too busy or too beat.

Shelly Fry, 35, a computer programer in Truro, Iowa, says she sometimes wonders how others with full-time jobs manage to cook so much. Her husband, T.J., has an electrical contracting business; their kids are 13 and 14. They cook about half their dinners.

The deli counter, a precooked chicken at the grocery store and takeout are frequent saviors. Dinner is often at 6:30 p.m., with the TV usually on in the background. The kids share one cell phone, are not allowed to text at all and can't take calls at dinner. "My kids are deprived," she said wryly.

Among the poll's findings:

- Once in the past week, 20 percent of those polled had dinner at a sit-down restaurant and 27 percent ate dinner at a fast-food place.

- Women are still doing more of the cooking. Just 51 percent of men said they make a home-cooked meal at least sometimes, compared with 71 percent of women.

- 60 percent of independents, 61 percent of Democrats and 65 percent of Republicans said their families had dinner together five times or more during the week.

- 86 percent had cooked a meal using a recipe passed along from parents, 68 percent had done so from newspapers or magazines, 54 percent from the Internet and 51 percent from TV.

- 64 percent of people in rural areas and 63 percent in the suburbs said they ate with their families at least five nights in the week, compared with 56 percent in cities.

The poll was conducted November 5-9 by GfK Roper Public Affairs and Media. It involved landline and cell phone interviews with 1,006 adults nationwide and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, then no one should have one.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a liberal is, he wants to ban all meat products for everyone.

If a conservative sees a foreign threat, he thinks about how to defeat his enemy.
A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly enjoys his life.
If a liberal is homosexual, he loudly demands legislated respect.

If Black or Hispanic men are conservative, they see themselves as independently successful.
Their liberal counterparts see themselves as victims in need of government protection.

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A non-believing liberal wants all churches to be silenced.

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or he may choose a job that provides it.
A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his health care.

"'Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.' We have heard that many times. What is also the price of freedom is the toleration of imperfections. If everything that is wrong with the world becomes a reason to turn more power over to some political savior, then freedom is going to erode away.... If you think government should 'do something' about anything that ticks you off, or anything you want and don't have, then you have made your choice between utopia and freedom."

John Piper twist Scriptures

Here is a clearly a twisting of Scriptures by John Piper. Within just a few moments John changes "the Word of God" to a witness.

Yes, you heard it right, John says faith comes by a witness.

Read now The Word of God - Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

...who want a man to dress like a woman...

“Except a duck in pattens, no creature looks more stupid than a Dissenting preacher in a gown which is of no manner of use to him. I could laugh till I held my sides when I see our doctors in gowns and bands, puffed out with their silks, and touched up with their little bibs, for they put me so much in mind of our old turkey-cock when his temper is up, and he swells to his biggest. They must be weak folks indeed who want a man to dress like a woman before they can enjoy his sermon, and he who cannot preach without such milliner’s trumpery may be a man among geese, but he is a goose among men.”

The Father's Prayer

by General Douglas MacArthur
Build me a son, oh Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak,
and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid;
one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.

Build me a son whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be;
a son who will know Thee, and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.
Lead him, I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge.
Here let him learn to stand up to the storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail.

Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high;
a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men;
one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep;
one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.

And after all these things are his, add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor so that he may always be serious,
yet never take himself too seriously.
Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness,
the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.
Then I, his father, will dare to whisper, `I have not lived in vain.’

FIVE FACTS YOU OUGHT TO KNOW AND BELIEVE

FIVE FACTS YOU OUGHT TO KNOW AND BELIEVE

HERE IS GOD’S VERDICT!
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:10, 23

HERE IS GOD’S SENTENCE!
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

HERE IS GOD’S PROVISION!
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for
our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the
third day according to the scriptures:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I Corinthians 15:3, 4; John 3:16

HERE IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY!
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. John 1:12; Acts 10:43

HERE IS YOUR ONLY HOPE!
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. John 3:36; I John 5;13

“Cottage Prayer Meetings”

“Cottage Prayer Meetings”

Introduction:

I have been in the ministry over 40 years, and the thing that’s driven my life is getting RESULTS.

Seeing souls saved and lives changed for the Master has been my driving force. I say that for one reason and that is this:

Preaching without power is a waste of time. Not just mine but those poor souls that listen to me-

A soul cannot be saved that is not prayed for– One said: ”Sharing the gospel with a person no one

has prayed for is like asking a blind man to share a beautiful sunset with you, He is blind and can

not see”.

A read Bible that is not prayed over will not be as effective, or not effective at all. Why? I must

talk to God if I expect Him to speak to me-

Faith moves the hand of God. Note the following:

Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth

George Muller gave this startling testimony: “If I say that during the fifty-four years and nine months that I have been a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ I have had thirty thousand answers to prayer, either in the same hour or the same day that the requests were made,…”

Look on with me for a moment:

John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

I did not have to read this verse many times to realize that God answered the prayers of obedient Christians.

A bit of testimony:

I was saved just weeks when my pastor Jim Phillips mentioned having cottage prayer meetings. I wanted to have one. What ever it was. I had a large den in my house so he told me to invite some folks to come to my house on Friday night and he would come to my house and lead the meeting. I will tell you about the events of that meeting in a moment, but first let me say that little effected my life like that night. Many there beside me were moved so powerfully that we met almost every Friday night for over three years. Oh if I only had space to tell you of the hundreds of answers to prayers. The growth In the Lord of those that attended.

One thing I do want to tell you concerns my pastor, Jim Phillips. (The author of this book) One Friday night after several months of meetings, Pastor Phillips called after the meeting ended and asked if anyone was broken hearted over some person they wanted to be saved. There were many that night, but one lady as I remember was totally broken over a person. The host told Bro Phillips the name of the person. No one thought about the call and went about having a time of snacks and fellowship. About forty five minutes later the phone rang and Bro Phillips said that the person had just received Christ as Savior. Bro Phillips later said that when he walked in the door the persons heart was broken. The reality of faith was overcoming.

Well that’s only a drop of Gods blessings that came on that group of people that got in one accord and saw many, many wonders of God as the Holy Spirit dealt with hearts and souls.

Let me now point out how those “Friday Night Cottage Prayer Meetings” worked:

First you need and appropriate host and location:

How many will be there and will the space be appropriate. Out of about 15 families that were involved in those meetings, about 5 had homes that were appropriate.

The people understood that. Let me now point out the procedures of the “Friday Night Cottage Prayer Meetings”.

First you need and appropriate host and location:

How many will be there and will the space be appropriate. Out of about 15 families that were

involved in those meetings, about 5 had homes that were appropriate. The people understood that.

It was up to the host to do two things.

One, ask a qualified person to lead the meeting.

Two ask someone to give the devotion. The devotion should be about 15 minute or less.

It is better if the host does neither of these. Why? It will insure more people at the meeting. It is

Particularly important when you first get started.

The Leader.

1– Opens the meeting by asking someone to pray.

2– Calls for testimonies. Note: After several meetings the people will start seeing people saved and

lives changed, The group will start getting in one accord. The power of God will work in the

meeting . Then the tone of the meeting will be set.

3– Then you can do one or more (or none) of several things:

One: Go around the room and ask each person to give one person they are praying for.

Two. Go around the room and have each person pray a sentence prayer for someone on their

heart.

(I think these are the most important to work with. just don't over do anything.)

The leader then calls on the person to give his devotion.

After the devotion is over then the leader takes prayer requests.

The host should make sure everyone has pen and paper.

Each week the person leading the meeting should try as much as possible to get only very serious requests. Make lost souls # one. Try to keep away from much of praying for the sick. Only very personal requests. Much more can be said. Just be Spirit led. Now it is time to pray

Here are three things you can do.

One– Separate the men and woman into separate rooms. Ask a lady to start the ladies off.

Two– If the group is small you can keep the group together.

Three– As time goes on and the group becomes sensitive to doing the right thing you can leave the group together up to as many as twenty people, but only if they will follow the leader when he says

To keep prayers short as possible. Pray mostly for that which the group is broken hearted over.

They have church and 7 days a week to pray over their personal lists.

The person giving the Devotion

Make sure that your message is on subject. Don't get away from prayer and the Holy Spirit.

If you have the ”gift of gab”, and love “much speaking”, don't quench the Spirit. The success of the meeting may depend on you. Keep it under 15 minutes and ask God to break your heart.

When the prayer time is over, then have a time of fellowship and food. Keep the food to snacks, and don't emphasis the food and fellowship. That will destroy the Cottage Prayer Meeting. Keep talking about the prayers during this time.

Something that is good to do when you have the group together to ask the blessing on the food is to

thank the Lord for the time of prayer with friends, and protect when they go to their homes, and ask God to bless the food and fellowship.
