(I speak as unto my children,)
be ye also enlarged.
Contraction is a great evil, enlargement is a
great blessing.
We
need to be enlarged in our knowledge – love – hope - liberality – faith – and
every grace.
Our
God disapproves of contraction.
The
apostles set a different example.
Provision
is made in the covenant to gratify enlarge desires.
The
promises warrant enlarged expectations.
Jesus
bids us ask largely.
The
gospel calls for enlargement in praying – benevolence – pity – and compassion –
and in our efforts for God’s glory.
Let
us beware of narrow views or feelings, for the heart of God is large; the love
of Christ is large, the provision of mercy is large; the gospel commission is
large; and the mansions of glory are large.
We
are not straitened in God, nor in His gospel, but we are straitened in our own
bowels.
O
Jesus enlarge are narrow hearts; expand
our contracted souls!
Fill
us with all joy and peace in believing, that we may abound in hope, by the
power of the Holy Ghost.
May
we be full of goodness, able also to admonish one another.
Oh,
to be filled with the Holy Ghost and with power!
Oh
for large hearts, large expectations, and large communications from God!
I long to lie beneath Thy throne;
I long in Thee to live and move,
And stay myself on Thee alone;
Teach me to lean upon Thy beast,
To find in Thee promised rest.

Smith
