Acts 5:31
…a Prince and a Saviour,
The Man of Sorrow is not raised to princely
dignity.
He is seated at the Father’s right hand.
He has all power in heaven and in earth.
Every knee must bow to him.
He is Lord of all.
The Prince of peace.
The Prince of life.
The Prince of the kings of the earth.
He has a princely heart.
He possesses all the wealth of the universe.
He gives in a princely manner.
But he is also a Saviour.
A princely Saviour.
He saves by his won merit—by his own power.
He saves for his own glory.
He saves freely.
He never barters with sinners, but bestows
salvation upon nthe list as a princely gift.
He can save to the uttermost.
He will sace every applicant.
He came into our world to save sinners. He is not
exalted at God’s right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give
repentance to Israel, and forgiveness ud sins.
Go to Jesus as to a mild, beneficent, peaceful
Prince.
Go to him as a powerful, kind, and willing
Saviour, whose work and delight it is to save sinners, even the chief.
Honour him by trusting his word, relying on his
blood, and expect salvation as a free gift at his hands.
In thy state of exaltation,
Answer, Lord, its end in me;
Give me free and full salvation,
Now my Prince and Saviour be.
James Smith
