HE THANKED GOD AND TOOK COURAGE

EVENING DEVOTION

NOVEMBER 7

Acts 28:15
…he thanked God, and took courage.

The kindness of friends cheered the Apostle, for this he gave God thanks, and then went forward courageously.

Every mercy should be thankfully acknowledged.

Whatever does us good comes from God.

He is the only source of all good, and to him our praises should daily ascend.

The Lord has brought us through many dangers; he has delivered us out of many difficulties; he has bestowed on us many favours; let us therefore to-night, thank God, and take courage.

He has provided for all our future wants; he has given us many, exceeding great, and precious promises; and we have his word, that he will never leave us nor forsake us; let us then, thank God, and take courage.

Our journey may be rough, our foes may be strong, our troubles may be great; but our strength is equal, our supplies are certain, and the end will crown the whole.

Listen not to Satan, yield not to unbelief, fear not the future; he that hath delivered, doth deliver, and in him let us trust that he will yet deliver.

Look at what he has done, review your mercies, think of his promises, and then thank God, and take courage.

Jesus, on thee our hope depends,
To lead us on to thine abode;
Assur’d our home will make amends
For all our toil while on the road.

James Smith
