EVENING DEVOTION
DECEMBER 10
Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
Acts 10:36
Jesus has supreme authority.
He rules over all.
He has all power in heaven and in earth.
He doth according to his will.
All creatures are under his control, and must subserve his
purpose.
He claims all as Creator, he reigns over all as Mediator.
He uses all to fulfill his pleasure.
He is worthy of our highest praise.
All men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father.
We can go to no place and justly say, Jesus does not reign
here.
We cannot lay our hand on any thing, and say, Jesus has no
claim to this.
We can refer to no event, and say, Jesus will not overrule
this.
He knows all existencies.
He claims all he knows.
He presides over all he claims.
He uses for his glory all over whom he presides.
Every thing is at his beck.
The fish of the sea.
The fowls of the air.
The beasts of the field.
The angels of God.
The devil and his host.
The lost souls in hell.
The glorified in heaven.
Sinners and saints on earth.
He is Lord of all.
He sits at God’s right hand in the heavenly places,
far above
all principality,
and power,
and might,
and dominion,
and every name that is
named
—not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.
Worthy the Lamb of boundless sway,
In earth and heav’n the Lord of all;
Him all the hosts on high obey;
Let men before his footstool fall.
James Smith
