No, you can’t compete with the world …

No Church can compete with the world when is comes to entertaining human beings. The world has millions of dollars to hire the most skilled of entertainers, and the world does its entertaining with no hold barred.

The pastor who depends on some clever entertainment gimmick to draw people will not draw many people. And the few people he does draw will get very little good out of that service. But the pastor who fearlessly and faithfully declares the whole Word of God, and does it with intelligence and compassion, will usually have people there to hear him.

The great outlet of sin is the tongue; the great inlets of temptation are the ear and the eye; but of the whole body the heart is mistress. Therefore let grace rule the heart, and the whole man shall be subject.

There is a great difference between sin dwelling, and reigning in us. It dwells in every believer, but reigns in the unbeliever.

God has two thrones - one in the highest heavens, the other in the lowliest heart.

A cake made out of memories will do for a bite now and then, but makes poor daily bread. We want the present enjoyment of God.
