THE MEEKNESS AND GENTLENESS OF CHRIST.

JUNE 10.

The meekness and gentleness of Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:1

THE Lord Jesus was the meek and lowly lamb.

He said, “Learn of me, for I am meek and lowly of heart;
  and he shall find rest unto your souls.”

He is a great example.
He requires us to imitate him.
He was never angry with anything but sin.
He was never severe but with hypocrites
  and hardened offenders.
He desired us to be meek and gentle
  toward all his people.

Do they err?
We are meekly to instruct them.

Do they fall?
We are to restore them in the spirit of meekness.

He pronounces the meek blessed.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

He directs us to be
   “gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.”

To put on meekness, because the ornament of a meek
  and quiet spirit is in the sight of God of a great price.

To walk in “all lowliness, and meekness
   forbearing one another in love.”

To make it the object of our daily and ardent pursuit,
  “follow after meekness.”

Beloved, do we not often fail here?

Are we representing
  “the meekness and gentleness of Christ?”

Do we set a proper estimate on these things,
  and seek them as we should?

Lord I fain would learn of thee
Meekness and humility;
Fill me, Spirit from above,
Full of gentleness and love.
